The Plague

Okay, so maybe it's not the plague. But it is my own personal plague.

Lice. Lice everywhere.

I really thought twice about this post. Who wants to inform the world that they have a problem with hitchhiking bugs and unbearable itching? Shoot, I would have been starting the revolt against Pharaoh if he didn't let the Israelites go. I give you my stuff, you leave, I get better? Good deal.

Since we're all about being real here, up the post goes. I have been terrified of getting lice my entire life. I'm sure the fact that I've always had long thick hair had something to do with it. The hubby thinks going through his short hair with a fine-tooth comb is a painful process. Yeah, I'm sure...

So, would you care to take a peek at my house this fine week?

It's not much better today. I still have boatloads of laundry and the kitchen still looks almost exactly like it did when I took the pictures last evening. I have used towels stacked up to the ceiling in the bathroom awaiting their special de-licing routine. And I'm not convinced the lice killing shampoo worked. I am ever the pessimist.

I was thinking that this was just an awful week and there is no rejoicing to be had at all. But then I remembered:

-I still have a wonderful family
-Medical research has given us lice killer
-We have food
-Indoor plumbing
-Grace
-Nothing is as bad as it could be

My poor little family has had to deal with my nit-pickiness the last couple days. There have been many tears shed and wrong reactions. Trying to wash a one year old's hair without getting it in their eyes is rough. Trying to get them to sit still while you're combing their hair and they are crying is not for the fainthearted.

Tomorrow is another day.

  1. Oooohhh .... that's rough. I'm sorry. Honestly I don't know how I HAVEN'T had lice yet in my life - while living in Taiwan my roommate got them from her students, and I somehow escaped. But I remember all those bags of clothes, and especially the dryer running nonstop for days. I wish you the best!!

    1. Oh yeah, it's no fun! I'm still working on the laundry. Luckily, I haven't seen anything on little man yet.

    1. Thank you for your prayers. On top of the lice, little man started getting sick, throwing up and everything. It's going to be one doozy of a week!
