My Real Life: The Cat

This is the cat.

This is the cat that peed on my carpet yesterday morning.

Needless to say, I was not a happy camper and, when I got done, neither was he. I promptly threw him outside with quite the scolding ringing in his ears. If he can't be decent and yowl at the front door like any other self-respecting cat then he can deal with the consequences. Hey, it ain't my fault the door into the room with the litter box was closed.

Ah, real life.

DIY can be a daunting thing to see on a post and yet we all like things we can do ourselves for cheap instead of spending a ton of money to buy it from someone else. I actually started this project right before Thanksgiving but I just hadn't gotten around to to putting it together until now. I was planning my kid's birthday party and it hit me that I still had a big blank space on my gallery wall where it was supposed to be. Having  a lot of people over is a great motivator.

Real Inspired Living

Welcome to my cozy little corner of the world! I can't wait to share my ideas with you. You see, I have a small family, a rented house, and a very small(non-existent?) budget to work with. But that's just real life.

I'm working with what I got and that can be a very positive thing. How? Some days that's harder to answer than others. It can be really frustrating. Some days I struggle. But contentment is important.  And it's especially important if you want to welcome people into your home.

I want people to come into my house and feel loved. I want them to be comfortable enough to let down their hair and be who they really are. I want them to feel content but I have to set that atmosphere myself.

It forces me to be resourceful. To think of old things in new ways. That's a good exercise for any artist.  And saving money is good. I'm even starting a garden.

I want to be thankful for all I have. I want to teach my son to be thankful. As little as I may have, there are others with much less. I have a lot to be thankful for.

So this will be our gathering place for sharing and inspiration. Whether you have a small fortune to spend on your home endeavors, or just enough to buy a few things at the thrift store, I hope you will find something that inspires and encourages you. If I post something that is not my original idea, I'll post a link to the site where I found it.

And I'll let you know how that garden goes. I'm pretty sure I'm going to kill it.
