Why is Interior Design Important?

Interior design has always been one of my passions. When I was little, I would create paper dolls and draw elaborate rooms and houses for them. Bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms...I drew them and laid them all out on the floor in the order I wanted.

Every time we would go to my Aunt's house, I'd look for the new Better Homes and Gardens magazines that had arrived since our last visit. I'd curl up in a chair and go through every single one, soaking up all the designs and colors like a sponge.

If you mention painting, I'll go get my paint swatches and go through them like a grandma with her grandkids’ pictures. If I don't, it's only because I’m sitting on my hands and trying really hard not to wax eloquent about color undertones.

I may be the only person I know who becomes giddy at the thought of a visit to Home Depot.

Beautiful homes are important to me. 

Why is Interior Design important?

Good interior design is making a space function for a person or family’s individual needs while, at the same time, telling their story in a beautiful way. It turns four walls and the space between into a haven, a gathering place, and a place to relax or reenergize.

Interior design is important because our environment can influence how we feel and think. It can tear down the walls between people by making guests feel at home and giving them a glimpse of your values and personality. It can make your life easier and fill it with beauty.

Interior design is more than just decorating. It is intentionally creating a space that not only functions well, but also functions beautifully.

We are designed to create beauty and order by the Creator. That includes you, even if you don't think you can or aren't sure where to start. You are designed to create!

For some artists, their masterpiece is on a canvas that hangs on the wall. A well-designed room is a canvas-less masterpiece. It is a work of art that lives and breathes, that never stays the same. Always changing and always beautiful but perfectly in tune with you and your family’s life.
