The Kitchen

It has been pretty gloomy in the area this week and, honestly, so has been my mood toward my house. I keep looking around and seeing all the areas it needs help. And then I think of all the money I don't have to spend. It's quite depressing at times.

I've been trying to see what I can do around here that doesn't cost anything. Or much of anything. So without further ado, I introduce you to:

My kitchen.

Sad, isn't it? And there is another layer of ugly wallpaper underneath that one, folks.

And another layer of linoleum under this one.

70's knotty pine cabinets. Yum.

Metallic gold trim? Check.

Metallic gold everything? Check, check.

Adorable little inhabitant? Check, check, check.

This room has been the bane of my existence for well over a year now. I haven't done much in the way of decor since nothing I own matches the style and colors in the room. So what's the point of trying? Everything is just kind of thrown in there haphazardly right now.

But you know what costs almost nothing? Ripping off wallpaper. All you have to buy are scrapers and something to spray on the wall to loosen the glue. You can use special wallpaper remover gel, fabric softener, or plain old white vinegar. I'll probably try a combination and see what works best.

I'm sure this will be a long process since I can't take a whole weekend to work on it. And it's a good size room. Oh, but I will enjoy not having to see those colors everyday!
